Online Comics Links
These are a few online comics I consider to be notable. I'll update this list as I overcome my spiritual malaise.
-
Scott McCloud
-
Scott McCloud's Web Site :: McCloud's Understanding Comics and Reinventing Comics are brilliant treatises on the form of comics and their potential. Also, you can see some of his online comics here.
-
Zot! Online : “Hearts and Minds” :: This is the first place I saw the technique of “trails”, which are paths that lead the viewer to the next panel in a series. Early precursors are the arrows you sometimes see in comic magazines, but these allow for some more interesting layouts only possible on the infinite canvas of the Web page.
-
Deterrent Comics by Kirk Uhlmann, Jason Musser, Seth Verdot, and various artists :: An independent comic by some old friends of mine, featuring Mr. MX (a sarcastic look at great power and great resposibility) and the Spaceman from the Dead (a campy treatment of campy horror comics). You can read it online, and even get the soundtrack.
-
Bee Comix by Jason Little :: One of my favorites. I love the art, the colors, the pacing, and the layout.
-
When I Am King by demian.5 :: An excellent story done in Flash. Austere, in a lush sort of way.
-
Aussiefax by Micah Liesenfeld :: The only other comics I know of being done in SVG; Micah has two series in progress, Micah Nova and Guy Herby Guy. Check it out. Also see the author's nice little essay on the potential of SVG comics.
-
toonOrama :: A compilation of various high-quality comics, including The Crater Kid, Astounding Space Thrills, and BuzzBoy.
-
Insert Your Own Here by You :: If you have something you'd like to share, or know of a great online comic, buzz me and I'll check it out, and maybe post it here. Otherwise you're stuck with what I get around to finding on my own.
